Let's discuss more gameplay options. There are 3 types of melee weapon available:

  • Swords: balanced. Good damage, high agility, highest hit rate, low crit chance. Can equip a shield and defend. Has an okay chance to counterattack when hit
  • Spears: defensive/crit centric. Lowest damage, high agility, low hit rate, highest crit chance. Can't equip a shield, but can still defend. Has a high chance to counterattack, and when defending will ALWAYS counter. Attacks multiple times at once, better spears attack more times
  • Axes: offensive/raw damage. Highest damage, lowest agility, low hit rate, high crit chance. Can't equip a shield, can't defend. Can't counterattack under normal circumstances

There were also going to be dagger type weapons with low damage, high agility, and high crit chance, but they were too similar to spears and they would've either been redundant or a straight upgrade, depending on their other stats. As a result there are no dagger type weapons.

Bows mimic the melee types, there's a short bow that does less damage and has a lower chance to hit but attacks more than once with a higher crit chance (like the spear), and there's a crossbow that does more damage but has the lowest agility, like the axes.

For the single Energy character that uses staves, each staff changes an attribute in some significant way more than another one. This allows each staff to have a unique feature making it more useful to certain playstyles. There is sort of a stat progression but it's really minor.

There aren't that many weapons ultimately. There are around 5 weapons for each category, making about 30 weapons in total. When it comes to armour, it's also categorised similarly:

  • Light armour is melee/range exclusive. Low defence and resistance but high agility and dodge chance
  • Heavy armour is melee exclusive. High defence and resistance but low agility
  • Robes are Energy exclusive and divided into two, increasing either Energy stats or defence
  • Shields are melee exclusive and increase only resistance to physical/elements, while lowering agility
  • Stones are exclusive from shields and increase resistance to a single element by 25%, while making all attacks also inflict that element
  • Accessories increase a range of stats. They can be anything from flat stat boosts to tradeoff items that completely change how you use a character
  • Technique Books are basically special accessories that have their own slot. Only one can be equipped, but can never be removed
