One thing led to another, parts of the timeline have been elaborated on, and all of a sudden there's time travel. So... that happened. This new single aspect of the timeline massively complicates it and makes it a bit difficult to explain. So I won't. It hasn't got anything to do with Tenebris Dominus anyway, just figured it'd be fun to mention. Its not exactly time travel per se but that's the simple answer.

I'm pretty happy with how things are progressing at the minute anyway. The weapons and armour lists are basically done (just more misc. items maybe) and then it's onto the actual item list. This is gonna be a pain because it's anything from potions to quest items... Sorting this list in an order that is easy to navigate with the important items at the top and everything else lower down (hopefully in order of strength/intended acquisition) is going to be a huge pain. The potions are right at the top which makes sense but everything else...

Well, everything else is just a huge pain to figure out. I'll have to go through and actually design the areas and quests that require items, and then create the items much later. Same goes for enemies, I already know what enemies I'll need but there might be additional ones. Luckily the enemy list doesn't need to actually be organised, but the item/armour/weapon lists absolutely do. The item ID's determine their position in the inventory, so if a weak potion is ID 1 and I add a new potion at ID 50 and you have ID's 1 through 50, you have to go alllllll the way down to find the item at ID 50. It's way easier to just put the items that are similar next to each other in terms of ID so that its easy for the player to find, but doing that is difficult when I decide to add a new item later. I have to shuffle everything down.

The obvious answer is to be more organised and maybe have a spreadsheet with the item ID's and items there, and then translate that to the game database later. That's... actually a really good and obvious answer. Not sure why I haven't done that already to be honest.
