The story for RoD is practically writing itself. As already mentioned, I have a stupidly long document from a couple years ago that gives a rough outline of the plot, but as I'm working on the gameplay first parts of the story are changing based on what I've currently made. This also helps with writing the story, as the story is coming from different gameplay elements that I'm throwing in too. Not saying anything specific to avoid spoilers, but characters can join and leave the party mid battle for different story reasons.

RoD was also only going to have one ending, but due to the way the gameplay works I've decided to add multiple endings based on a few key actions the player can take throughout the game. I'd describe this development process as 'emergent story-telling'. What I mean by 'emergent story-telling' is that working on the gameplay is leading to development on the story, and development on the story is leading to me working on the gameplay. It's a really nice cycle I'm in at the minute where everything just works.

Well, everything just works but damage. I'm having some issues with certain attacks not doing any damage at all on a particular enemy and it means that two characters are entirely useless during an important fight. Gonna have to tweak some stats to try and make this work.
